Why is finding working coupons so frustrating? Coupons are one of the easiest ways to save money online and at the same time, they’re a powerful marketing tool for retailers. In theory, both sides benefit, so the coupon experience should be smooth and simple. In reality, it often feels like an endless treasure hunt: confusing, time-consuming, and full of disappointment.
For shoppers, the value is crystal clear: redeem a coupon, pay less, and enjoy the satisfying feeling of scoring a real bargain.
For retailers, coupons are a strategic weapon to attract curious new customers and get products into more hands. Discounts lower the psychological barrier to purchase and if the product doesn’t wow, many consumers simply shrug and think, “At least I got it cheap.”
The problem
Here’s the catch: finding working coupons today is often a nightmare.
Picture this: you’re about to check out, and a thought crosses your mind:“Maybe there’s a coupon I can use?” You quickly Google “ShopName coupon” or scroll Instagram. What you usually get is a mess of expired codes, spammy sites, and pop-ups. Sometimes you even have to register, only to end up with nothing useful. Frustrating.
And the best coupons? They often come straight from shops to your inbox, mailbox, or app notifications. Trouble is, they’re easy to forget or lose. Digging through your inbox or piles of paper just to check if you have one is a waste of time.
No wonder many people give up, thinking, “It would only save me a couple of bucks anyway.” But that’s not really true. I’ve saved anywhere from €40 to €200 on a single purchase thanks to coupons. The real challenge isn’t their value it’s keeping track of them and using them at the right moment.
The solution
After running into this problem again and again, a friend and I decided it was time for a better solution.
We wanted couponing to feel:
- Simple
- Fun
- Organized
Think of it as GTD (Getting Things Done) for coupons.
That’s how the idea for a “Coupon Wallet” was born. An app where you can quickly save every coupon when you see it by snapping a photo or forwarding an email. The app organizes them automatically and shows you what’s relevant when you’re ready to shop.
We couldn’t find anything like it, so we built it ourselves: CouponCrowd.

How it works
- Save personal coupons instantly (photo, email, or url).
- Keep them organized so you never lose one.
- Browse thousands of shop coupons directly in the app.
- Help the community by reporting expired codes and sharing new ones.
In return, you get recognition, points, and access to one of the most complete coupon libraries out there.
